Georgia decreases import of flat-rolled products of non-alloy steel from China

Georgia imported 14,399 tons of flat-rolled products of non-alloy clad or coated steel of a width of more than 600 mm from China in a total amount of $10.08 million from January through May 2020, which is 2,756 tons less compared to January-May 2019, Trend reports referring to National Statistics Office of Georgia (Geostat).

In the reporting period, Georgia imported 5,706 tons of polyacetals and epoxide resins, and other polyesters in primary forms worth $5.3 million from China. During January-May 2019, Georgia imported 9,141 tons of polyacetals and epoxide resins, and other polyesters in primary forms worth $11.1 million from China.

Meanwhile, 2,834 tons of new pneumatic rubber tyres worth $6.6 million were imported by Georgia from China, which is 792 tons more compared to January-May 2019.

In January-May 2020, Georgia imported 52 units of special purpose motor vehicles worth $5.2 million from China.

Meanwhile, 181.9 tons of other goods, including dress patterns worth $5.4 million were imported by Georgia from China. This is 18.9 tons more compared to January-May 2019.

China ranked third in Georgia’s commodity circulation during the reporting period.

From January through May 2020, the foreign trade turnover between Georgia and China amounted to more than $443.1 million, which is 10.5 percent of the total trade turnover of Georgia.

During the reporting period, Georgia exported products worth $168.4 million to the Chinese market, which is 16.9 percent of total exports from Georgia.

Meanwhile, China exported products worth $274.7 million to the Georgian market, which comprises 13.6 percent of total import to Georgia.
