The retail trade turnover of pharmaceutical products and medical supplies in total terms amounted to 262.3 million manat ($154.3 million) in Azerbaijan from January through May 2020, Trend reports on June 29 referring to the report of the Azerbaijani State Statistics Committee.
According to the committee, the retail trade turnover of pharmaceutical products and medical supplies increased by 42.2 percent compared to the same period of last year (183.3 million manat that’s $107.8 million in 2019).
The share of sales of pharmaceutical products and medical supplies in the total retail turnover reached 1.8 percent.
The production volume of pharmaceutical products in Azerbaijan increased by 3.1 times from January through May 2020 compared to the same period of last year.
According to the State Statistics Committee, the production of the main types of products in pharmaceutics, and in particular, medicines containing antibiotics packaged for retail trade, in total terms amounted to 12,500 manat ($7,352) in Azerbaijan from January through May 2020.
The volume of other medicines not included in other groups and packaged for retail trade amounted to 349,600 manat ($205,647) in total terms.
