Public catering turnover in Baku declines

The public catering turnover in Azerbaijan’s capital Baku decreased by 37 percent in real terms from January through May 2020 compared to the same period of last year, Trend reports on July 1 referring to Baku City Statistics Department.

According to the department, in the reporting period, 61.7 percent of the turnover of public catering in the private sector accounted for legal entities, and 38.3 percent - of the operations by individuals.

Meanwhile, the turnover of legal entities decreased by 9.3 percent compared to the same period of 2019 and amounted to 146.5 million manat ($86.1 million).

In 2019, the volume of trade turnover in Baku increased by 4.2 percent compared to 2018 and amounted to 22.2 billion manat ($13 billion). The volume of food, drinks and tobacco products sold in the trading network in the capital increased by 0.8 percent compared to 2018 and amounted to 10.5 billion manat ($6.1 billion). The volume of sales of non-food products increased by 7.7 percent and exceeded 11.6 billion manat ($6.8 billion).
