A number of new national standards regarding halal goods' production have come into force in Kazakhstan, starting Jul.1, 2020, Trend reports with reference to the press office of Kazakhstan’s Ministry of Trade and Integration.
The adopted standards have a batch application principle; therefore, these standards are to be applied when manufacturing halal products.
The first standard establishes main requirements for the halal products and for its production, storage, transportation and labeling; it also clearly defines which products belong to halal category and which do not.
The second standard applies to the organizations slaughtering farm animals and poultry for halal food production. Slaughter must comply with the requirements established by legislation in the field of veterinary medicine, and the slaughter areas should be intended only for halal animals and halal slaughter.
The third standard defines confirmation of halal products as a procedure, the result of which is documentary confirmation of the products' compliance with the requirements established by the standardization documents for halal products. Such a document is a halal product certificate of conformity, registered in issued certificates register.
The fourth standard establishes requirements for the form, size and technical requirements for the national halal product conformity mark, as well as the procedure for labeling halal products.
Halal product conformity mark is a designation used to inform customers about the products, services, procedures for confirming compliance with the requirements established by the standardization documents for halal products.
The fifth standard requires that catering enterprises of all forms of ownership, of various types and classes operating in the halal catering business, must comply with the requirements of this standard.
