Azerbaijani Az-Granata company plans to bring income from the export of pomegranate juices up to $4 million, Tural Hajiyev, head of the export department of the company, told Trend on July 2.

“The income from export amounted to $650,000 in June 2020,” Hajiyev. “Russia, Turkey, Germany, Canada, the US, China, Australia, Malaysia, Latvia, Lithuania, Estonia, Poland and the Czech Republic were the main export countries.”

"The revenues increased by 100 percent from January through June 2020 compared to the same period of last year,” head of the export department added. “The wine, pomegranate concentrate, pomegranate juice, vodka, cognac and other products were in great demand."

Hajiyev stressed that the products worth $1 million were exported from Azerbaijan to Turkey in May 2020.

“The demand for pomegranate juice, cognac and various types of wine has been recently gaining momentum,” the head of the export department said. “The production volume is also increasing in parallel with the increase in the number of countries wishing to import pomegranate juices and wine. Today the monthly production volume is 500,000 bottles. It is planned to increase the volume by 15-20 percent by late 2020."

Az-Granata plant, built in 2011 and covering a 12.5 hectare-area, is one of the biggest producers of alcoholic beverages in the South Caucasus. Besides cognac and wine, the company produces liqueurs, vodka, as well as fruit juices.
