Azerbaijani cannery reduces production volumes

BAKU, Azerbaijan, July 9

By Matanat Nasibova – Trend:

The Lankaran cannery, which is the biggest producer of a wide range of fruit juices and compotes in Azerbaijan, located in Lankaran district, greatly reduced the production volumes since the beginning of this year to sell big volumes of products that have been stored in the warehouses of the cannery since 2019, a source in the cannery told Trend.

"The cannery’s capacity reached 20-30 percent due to the introduced quarantine regime amid the spread of the coronavirus pandemic," the source said.

The production volume at the cannery reached 500,000-600,000 bottles of compote during six months of this year, while the production capacity is 6.5 - 7 million bottles per year.

Currently, the cannery has actually suspended the production process. However, the cannery did not stop supplying the products abroad during six months of the year.

Today, about one million bottles of compote, fruit juices and narsharab (pomegranate sauce) are stored in the cannery's warehouses.

As a result, the products are supplied to the domestic market and abroad. The shelf life of all types of products is two years in accordance with the state standards, which allows storing them in warehouses for export.

It is planned to gradually increase the production volumes as far as those stored in warehouses are sold.

The capacity of the cannery allows producing about 6-7 million bottles of compotes, and up to 10 million bottles of all types of products in total.

The Italian equipment has been installed in the cannery.
