Foreign Ministry: Iran's priority to develop ties with neigbors

TEHRAN, Iran, July 31

Trend:

Iran's priority is to develop relations with its 15 neighboring countries, said Spokesman for the Iranian Foreign Ministry Abbas Mousavi, Trend reports via Mehr News Agency.

"It is expected that Iranian provinces that are located close to neighboring countries, would have more importance in developing ties, especially the Gilan Province," said Abbas Mousavi.

"The Anzali Free Zone in Gilan Province would have high capacity to develop trade with the neighboring countries and we are seriously pursuing the expansion of economic ties," he said during his meeting with the Governor of Gilan Province Arsalan Zare.

"Social and cultural interactions could develop political and economic relations with the neighbors, especially Azerbaijan," said Zare.

He indicated that during the coronavirus spread the Astara border with Azerbaijan was not involved in signing any trade agreements.

"Transportation via the Astara border would affect foreign trade and development of proper infrastructure could help accelerate trade as well," he said.
