The implementation of the projects agreed on during the official visit of Kazakhstan’s president to Germany in Dec. 2019 is well under way, Eduard Kinsbruner, Regional Director for Central Asia, German Eastern Business Association told Trend.

Kazakhstan’s President Tokayev held official visit to the Germany on Dec. 5 and 6, 2020. Following the visit a number of important documents was signed.

Kinsbruner noted that during the visit of Kazakhstan's President Tokayev to Berlin, special attention was paid to economic relations. During the visit, several agreements were signed in various sectors, including logistics, agriculture in the financial sector and the manufacturing industry.

“The implementation of the agreed projects is well under way. Of course, the current worldwide COVID-19 pandemic has an impact on the entire economic process and also on German-Kazakh economic relations. Nevertheless, the Kazakh government, but also the German Eastern Business Association, is flanking and monitoring the agreed projects. In monthly coordination meetings at the highest government level, the projects are pushed forward and new projects are identified,” he said.

He also noted that one of the biggest obstacles of the COVID-19 pandemic are certainly travel restrictions.

“Many activities can be replaced by digital formats. Others, such as installation and service projects, require on-site deployment. Together with the Kazakh government, the German Eastern Business Association is helping German companies, especially small and medium-sized enterprises, to send specialists to Kazakhstan to advance the projects,” Kinsbruner said.
