Most of money for purchased wheat paid to farmers in Iran's Mazandaran Province

About 99 percent of the value of wheat purchased from farmers in the Mazandaran Province (northern Iran) has been paid since the beginning of the current harvesting season in Iran April 4 to August 15, director of Government Trading Corporation of Iran’s branch in Mazandaran Province Bahram Najafi said, Trend reports citing the corporation's website.

Najafi noted that more than 1.54 trillion rials (about $37.3 million) has been paid to farmers, so far.

He added that so far, more than 61,380 tons of wheat worth 1.55 trillion rials (about $37 million) has been purchased from farmers in Mazandaran Province. This figure was more than 21,000 tons during the same period last Iranian year.

"Thus, more than 40,320 tons of wheat has been purchased from farmers in the same period last Iranian year," he said.

The director emphasized that in addition, 11,200 tons of rapeseed worth more than 501 billion rials (about $11.9 million) has been purchased from farmers, so far. All the money for the purchased rapeseed was paid to the farmers.

The price of ordinary wheat to be purchased from farmers in the current planting year is set at 25,000 rials (about 59 cents), and of durum wheat - at 26,000 rials (about 61 cents) per kilogram in the current Iranian year (began March 20, 2020). The price of rapeseed is set at 46,600 rials (about $1.1) per kilogram.

A number of products, including wheat, tea, rice and other products are purchased from farmers by a state company under a guarantee in Iran.
