Azerbaijan announces its seven-month statistics on precious metal mining

BAKU, Azerbaijan, Aug. 19

Around 2,040 kilograms of gold were extracted in Azerbaijan from January through July 2020, which is 1.2 percent less compared to the same period of 2019, Trend reports citing the report of the State Statistical Committee.

During the first seven months of this year, the volume of silver mining increased by 15.5 percent compared to the same period of 2019. The total volume of extracted silver and concentrates made up 2,475 kilograms.

As reported, about 1.5 million tons of copper ore and concentrates were produced in the country, which is a growth of 32.4 percent.

The reserves of copper ore amounted to 354.2 tons, of gold ore – 315.4 kilograms, and of silver ore – 225.4 kilograms as of August 1, 2020.

There are two companies operating in precious metal mining in Azerbaijan including Anglo Asian Mining PLC and state-owned AzerGold CJSC.
