Iran implementing long-term economic reforms

TEHRAN, Iran, Aug.25

Trend:

Iranian government is seeking to implement long term structural reforms, to prevent recession in its last year of being in power, said Iranian government spokesman Ali Rabiei, Trend reports via ILNA.

"The government's effort is to work with consistency in its last remaining year. Its strategy was to increase production, protect people's health and withstand external pressure, said Rabiei.

The official pointed out that despite sanctions, Iran's economy has shown growth through the years.

"One of the issues on the agenda is the budget deficit due to reduced oil sales and sanctions, so the government is trying to manage the budget without relying on oil, and has been planning to increase salaries along with reducing unnecessary costs," Rabiei said.

He went on to add that the government would create conditions for planning resilient budget plan for the next Iranian year (starts March 21,2021), so that the next government would have a proper budget.
