Iranian government launched new maritime projects in Bushehr Port, including dredging canals, the launch of passenger quay and gyroplane hanger, said the Managing Director of Ports and Maritime Organization(PMO).
"The dredging of canals in Bushehr Port has been launched with $45 million credit which will operate for 20 months and expected to dredge around 5.7 million cubic meters," said Mohammad Rastad, Trend reports citing PMO website.
"The project would increase the depth of the canal and allow transportation of large vessels," he said.
"Valfajr terminal in Bushehr Port was also inaugurated by $10 million credit that would operate in 15 months," he added.
"The following terminal would establish port Delfin for harboring grand ferries and launching passenger liners," he added.
"We seek to change the traditional atmosphere of Bushehr Port and develop it to 500 hectares, encouraging private sector involvement. Currently, there are ongoing negotiations for attracting new investment," he said.
"There were good efforts done in the development of Negin Island that includes completing quay for harboring 50 tons ships alongside investment on liquid reservoirs," he said.
"It has been planned that import of necessary goods would be distributed between Imam Khomeini Port and Bushehr port while improving maritime travels for cargo and passenger ships in Bushehr port," he said.
"The gyroplane hanger has also been established and launched after six months of construction with $70,000 credit and one gyroplane will be used in the port to monitor coast and sea in Bushehr port's territory," he said.
