Georgian marble remains competitive

BAKU, Azerbaijan, Sept.9

By Tamilla Mammadova – Trend:

Georgian marble processed by Geostone is supplied not only to the Georgian market but also exported to countries such as Australia and China, where Georgian marble is competitive, said Natia Turnava, Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development of Georgia, Trend reports via Georgian media.

She made the remark during her visit to Geostone's marble and basalt processing facility.

Geostone is one of the leading mining and stone mining companies specializing in the extraction, production, processing, and transportation of natural stone. The company also owns basalt and limestone quarries, from which it produces high-quality products.

The company has invested about 8 million laris ($2.6 million). At this stage, 24 people are employed here.

“I want to urge everyone, first of all, the construction business, to pay special attention to Georgian-made building materials, Georgian marble, basalt, and other Georgian products, and to buy local materials, not imported ones,” said Turnava.

In Telavi municipality at the Lopota marble deposit, two types of marble are mined - black marble and gray marble.
