Passenger transportation by road plummets in Kazakhstan

Kazakhstan’s revenue from the transportation of cargo, luggage and cargo luggage via road transport amounted to 110.8 billion tenges ($260.1 million) over the first eight months of 2020, which is 3.7 percent more than during the same period of 2019, Trend reports with reference to Kazakhstan’s Statistics Committee.

Revenue from the transportation of cargo, luggage, and cargo luggage via road transport in Aug. 2020 amounted to 15.1 billion tenges ($35.5 million), which is 3.4 percent less than during the same period of 2019.

The volume of cargo, luggage and cargo luggage transported via road transport during the reporting period amounted to 2.03 billion tons, which is 8.5 percent less compared to the same period of last year (299.7 million tons in Aug. 2020, down by 7.2 percent year-on-year).

Cargo turnover amounted to 98.7 billion ton-kilometers which is 14.3 percent less than during the same period of last year (14.8 billion in Aug. 2020, a decrease of 15.4 percent).

In turn, Kazakhstan’s revenue from passenger transportation amounted to 42.03 billion tenges ($98.6 million) over the reporting period of 2020, which is 40.5 percent less than during the same period of last year. August’s revenue from passenger transportation was 4.4 billion tenges ($10.3 million), which is 49 percent less than in Aug. 2019.

The number of transported passengers amounted to 6.9 billion people, which is 55.1 percent less than during the same period of last year (260.9 million passengers in Aug. 2020, down by 87.3 percent).

The passenger turnover amounted to 75.03 billion passenger-kilometers which compared to the same period of last year is a decrease of 56 percent. The passenger turnover in Aug. was 3.1 billion (86.2 percent decrease year-on-year).
