By Tamilla Mammadova – Trend:

The grape harvest actively continues in Georgia’s eastern wine region of Kakheti, where 191,000 tons of grape have already been processed as of September 28, Trend reports via Georgian National Wine Agency.

As a result, the income of grape growers in the Kakheti region has exceeded 158 million lari ($48.5 million), said the agency.

About 163 wine companies are involved in grape processing, which on average process about 13,000 tons of grapes per day.

Local growers have processed the following grape varieties: Rkatsiteli - 137,000 tons, Saperavi – 45,000 tons, Kakhuri Mtsvane – 3,300 tons.

Meanwhile, the government of Georgia is subsidzing the 2020 grape harvest, especially the grape varieties of Rkatsiteli and Kakhuri Mtsvane in order to support farmers completely sell their produce.

The price of Rkatsiteli and Kakhuri Mtsvane will not be less than 80 tetri (24.85 cents).
