Iran reveals details of exports from Pars Special Economic Energy Zone

BAKU, Azerbaijan, Nov. 9

A total of 11 million tons of goods worth $2.7 billion were exported from the Pars Special Economic Energy Zone (PSEEZ) in the Bushehr Province (southern Iran) during the first seven months of the current Iranian year (from March 20 through October 21, 2020), Head of Pars Special Economic Energy Zone Customs Office Amir Abbas Hamidi said, Trend reports citing the zone’s official website.

Hamidi stressed that the exported goods were mainly methanol, propane, butane, light and heavy polyethylene, gas condensate, ammonia, sulfur, styrene and other goods.

The official added that these goods were exported to various Asian and European countries and the countries around the Persian Gulf.

"Over the reporting period, 7,350 tons of gas condensate worth $4 million were exported from this zone," he said.

Hamidi noted furthermore, 47,200 tons of goods worth $563 million were imported to the zone within 7 months. The Imported goods decreased by 51 percent in terms of value compared to the same period last Iranian year.

The customs official said that the supplies in connection with the implementation of projects accounted for 42,000 tons worth $528 million of total imported goods.

According to him, 4.17 million tons of goods worth $1.79 billion were shipped by cabotage in 7 months. The shipped goods by cabotage increased by 125 percent in terms of volume and 88 percent in terms of value compared to the same period last Iranian year.
