BAKU, Azerbaijan, Nov. 16

By Nargiz Sadikhova – Trend:

Kazakhstan’s Ministry of Energy, KazTransGas JSC, and ArcelorMittal Temirtau signed a Memorandum for cooperation on supplies of commercial gas to the metallurgical plant in Temirtau city, Trend reports citing Kazakhstan’s Ministry of Energy.

The goal of the memorandum is to create conditions that will lead to the production processes of ArcelorMittal Temirtau JSC having a positive effect and impact on the environment by transferring the metallurgical plant to use natural gas by connecting it to the Saryarka gas pipeline.

The Memorandum is also aimed at strengthening the long-term mutually beneficial partnership of the parties and defines the key aspects of further cooperation.

Within the framework of the memorandum, the parties will cooperate on the supply of marketable gas to ArcelorMittal Temirtau JSC with a total annual volume of 300 million cubic meters to 600 million cubic meters for a period of at least 15 years.

The environmental effect of the switch to natural gas and the implementation of other environmental measures will reduce emissions into the environment, which will significantly contribute to the improvement of the environmental situation in the region.
