Iran reveals forecasts on corn production

More than 14.7 million tons of corn are planned to be produced in Iran in the current planting year, Director General of the Ministry of Agriculture Jihad of Iran’s Grains and Essential Goods Department Faramak Aziz Karimi said, Trend reports citing the ministry.

Aziz Karimi stressed that this is an increase of 11 percent compared to the last planting year.

He added that About 1.2 million tons of this volume will be produced as corn kernel and more than 13.5 million tons as corn silage.

The director-general noted that the corn kernel is planted on 140,000 hectares of land, while the corn silage - on 260,000 hectares of land.

According to him, the largest volume of corn is grown in Ardabil, Khuzestan, Isfahan, Fars, Kermanshah, Tehran, and Kerman provinces of Iran.

Aziz Karimi also said that 1.6 million tons of corn were produced in Iran's Khuzestan Province, 1.5 million tons in Tehran Province, and 1.5 million tons in Fars Province in last year.
