The National Tourism Administration of Georgia will spend 18.4 million lari ($5.6 million) to hire additional quarantine zones at the hotels in the country, Trend reports via Georgian media.
So far, the Georgian government has spent 84.9 million lari ($25.8 million) on renting hotels for quarantine, and as a result of the new acquisition, its value will reach 103.3 million lari ($31.4 million).
Earlier Acting Minister of Economy Natia Turnava said that the government has contracts with a total of 215 hotels and 133,000 people have gone into mandatory quarantine.
According to the criteria set by the government, renting a hotel room for one day costs a maximum of 100 lari ($30.48).
All international flight restrictions are planned to be lifted from February in Georgia, Turnava earlier said.
She made the remark at the presentation of the 2020 activity report of the agency.
According to the minister, despite the COVID-19 pandemic, infrastructure projects carried out by the ministry of economy have not been hampered, including airport expansion projects.
