Iran boosts pistachio exports

BAKU, Azerbaijan, Dec. 30

By Elnur Baghishov – Trend:

Iran's pistachio exports have tripled over the past three months of the current Iranian year (September 22-December 21), compared to the same period last Iranian year, Head of Iran Pistachio Association, Mohammad Salehi told ILNA, Trend reports.

Salehi said that Iran has exported 90,000 tons of pistachios worth $540 million over the past three months.

“The price of Iranian pistachios on the world market has fallen somewhat in the current Iranian year (from March 20, 2020 to March 21, 2021) compared to last Iranian year (from March 21, 2019 to March 20, 2020). In return, the number of customers has increased. So, the price of 1 kilogram of Iranian pistachio is $6, at present,” he added.

The official emphasized that given the growing number of customers, the price of Iranian pistachios is expected to rise soon. Thus, Iran's revenues will be $10,000-$15,000 per ton.

Iran exported 121,000 tons of pistachios worth $798 million during the first eight months of the current Iranian year (March 20 through November 20, 2020).
