Azerbaijan’s export of precious stones and natural pearls up

As of early 2021, Azerbaijan increased the export of precious and semiprecious stones, as well as natural pearls by 19.4 percent or $33.9 million, Trend reports with reference to the statistics bulletin of the Azerbaijani State Customs Committee.

The export turnover of these products amounted to $208.4 million.

The share of precious and semi-precious stones, as well as natural pearls in the total export of Azerbaijan increased from 0.89 percent to 1.52 percent.

A big decrease is observed in the import of precious and semiprecious stones, as well as natural pearls for the year. This figure is $13.01 million compared to $2.15 billion in 2019.

The share of these products in the total import of Azerbaijan amounted to 0.12 percent, decreasing in annual terms by 15.61 percentage points.

In general, the volume of foreign trade turnover of precious and semi-precious stones, as well as natural pearls in 2020 amounted to $221.5 million, which is by 10.5 times less than in 2019.

As of 2020, Azerbaijan's foreign trade turnover amounted to $24.5 billion.
