Iran declares amount of money allocated for construction of fishing ports

BAKU, Azerbaijan, Feb. 1

A total of 490 billion rials (about $11.7 million) have been allocated for the construction of fishing ports in southern Iran since the beginning of the current Iranian year (March 20, 2020) to date, Deputy Chairman of Iran Fisheries Organization Parviz Mohebbi said, Trend reports citing Ministry of Agriculture Jihad of Iran.

Mohebbi noted that in total, 940 billion rials (about $22.3 million) are estimated to be allocated for the construction of fishing ports in southern Iran in the current Iranian year (from March 20, 2020, to March 21, 2021).

The deputy chairman added that 15 fishing ports are being built in the south of Iran. The physical progress in the construction of these ports is between 30 -70 percent.

“The number of fishing ports on the southern coast of Iran will reach 70 with the construction of these ports,” he said.

As reported, about 1.28 million tons of fish were grown in Iran in the last Iranian year (from March 21, 2019, to March 20, 2020). This figure will increase to 1.37 million tons this year.
