As of early January 2021, the export of goods from Azerbaijan to Switzerland in total amounted to $224.8 million, which demonstrates an increase of 25.5 percent compared to early 2020, Trend reports on Feb. 4 with reference to the statistical bulletin of the Azerbaijani State Customs Committee.
Switzerland's share in Azerbaijan's total export reached 1.64 percent compared to 0.91 percent as of January 1, 2020.
However, by early January 2021, the import of Swiss products in Azerbaijan amounted to $80.2 million while Switzerland's share in Azerbaijan's total import decreased by 8.2 percentage points for the year, amounting to 0.75 percent of the total amount.
The volume of foreign trade operations between the two countries as of 2020 reached $305 million, while the balance of foreign trade turnover between Azerbaijan and Switzerland for the reporting year became positive, amounting to $144.6 million.
In general, as of 2020, Azerbaijan's foreign trade turnover amounted to $24.5 billion. More than $13.7 billion of that volume, or 56.15 percent, accounted for export while the remaining $10.7 billion, or 43.85 percent, for import.
