South Korea has slowly been releasing Iran's frozen assets, Iran's Foreign Ministry's Spokesman Saeed Khatibzadeh said, Trend reports via IRNA,

"The issue is related to the South Korean side to do its work and we have heard there have been some positive movements," Khatibzadeh said.

Yonhap news agency earlier reported citing a South Korean Foreign Ministry official, that Seoul’s negotiations with Washington to get approval in order to use Iranian frozen funds to pay for Iran’s debt to the UN is being finalized.

"Deputy Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi held phone calls with South Korean side and we are hoping the South Korean government would act accordingly, and approve for our debts to the UN to be paid," Khatibzadeh said.

Seoul officials announced that their negotiations with the US to pay Iran's debt to the UN from Iran’s frozen funds in South Korea are in their final stages.

Around $7 billion of mostly oil payments were frozen in South Korean banks after the United States imposed banking sanctions on Iran in 2018.
