There are more than 9,800 hectares of greenhouse areas in Iran at present, Trend reports citing the statistics of the Statistical Center of Iran.
According to the statistics, there are currently 22,400 greenhouses in Iran. About 20,600 of them are active and 1,840 are inactive.
“The seasonal plants are grown in 16,000 greenhouses, the permanent plants in 4,120 greenhouses, and both seasonal and permanent plants in 446 greenhouses,” the statistics said.
As reported, Iran plans to increase the area of greenhouses to 52,800 hectares and increase production to 21 million tons until March 20, 2026.
Iran exported 7.88 million tons of agricultural products worth $5.52 billion during the first 11 months of the current Iranian year (March 20, 2020 through February 18, 2021).
