The plan on the domestic production of some imported products, including, raw materials, equipment, and so on in order to develop domestic production was implemented to the maximum in 31 provinces of Iran in the last Iranian year (from March 20, 2020 through March 20, 2021), said Deputy Minister of Industry, Mine and Trade of Iran, Mehdi Sadeghi Niaraki, Trend reports citing the ministry.
According to Niaraki, last year, it was planned to produce $3.2 billion worth of equipment, raw materials and so on domestically. However, this figure was more than $3.5 billion over the last Iranian year.
The deputy minister added that at the same time, the plans to increase investment in the industrial sector and increase manufacturing of certain industrial products were also implemented last Iranian year.
"During the first 11 months of the last Iranian year (from March 20, 2020 through February 18, 2021), investment in the industrial sector increased by 225 percent compared to the same period of preceding Iranian year and exceeded 1.8 quadrillion rials (about $42.8 billion)," he said.
Niaraki noted that as a result of these investments, employment in the industrial sector also increased by 23 percent. So, 121,000 people were employed last Iranian year.
