Georgian beer exports to Azerbaijan up

BAKU, Azerbaijan, April 21

Azerbaijan imported 68.058 tons of beer worth $62,300 from Georgia in the first quarter of 2021, which exceed the imported amounts in 2020 by 10,558 tons or 18.3 percent, Trend reports referring to the National Statistics Office of Georgia (Geostat).

Georgia exported 340,311 liters of beer ($324,080) to Azerbaijan last year, which is 10,654 liters or 3 percent less than the exported amounts in 2019.

The price of total Georgian beer exports (350.97 liters) in 2019 amounts to $389,270.

The volume of Georgia's foreign trade turnover with Azerbaijan amounted to $250.29 million from January through March of this year, which is 13.6 percent or $39.33 million less than in the same period of 2020.

For the same period last year, this figure was $289.63 million.

During the reporting period, Georgia imported goods and products from Azerbaijan for $145.71 million, which is 11.4 percent less in annual comparison. During the reporting period, imports from Azerbaijan amounted to 7.5 percent of Georgia's total imports.

From January through March, Georgia's exports to Azerbaijan amounted to $104.57 million. This is 16.4 percent less than in the same period last year. Exports to Azerbaijan accounted for 12.7 percent of Georgia's total exports.

As a result, in the first quarter of 2021, a negative balance of $41.13 million was formed in the trade turnover of Georgia with Azerbaijan, which is 4.2 percent more in annual terms.

For the same period last year, the negative balance amounted to $39.46 million.
