Future Growth Project - Wellhead Pressure Management Project (FGP-WPMP) at Kazakhstan’s Tengiz oil and gas field is 81 percent complete, Trend reports citing the field operator company – Tengizchevroil (TCO).

The company said that with the project now 81 percent complete, all production wells have been drilled and completed, materials and equipment are on-site, module restacking is nearing completion and the remaining works are focused on Tengiz.

“FGP-WPMP is the project of national importance and is helping to create a legacy of a trained and skilled local workforce, technology transfer through partnerships with international companies, and upgraded infrastructure in the region,” the company said.

n 2016, TCO Partners announced approval for the final investment decision of the Future Growth Project - Wellhead Pressure Management Project (FGP-WPMP), the next major expansion of the Tengiz oil field.

FGP will expand production by approximately 12 million tons per year/260,000 barrels per day to about 39 million tons per year/850,000 barrels per day.

WPMP will keep the existing Tengiz plants full by lowering the flowing pressure at the wellhead and then boosting the pressure to the inlet requirements of the six existing processing trains.

In 1993, Tengizchevroil LLP was established on the basis of an agreement between Kazakhstan and Chevron. The company operates the Tengiz oil field in Kazakhstan.

The Tengiz oil field was discovered in 1979 and is one of the biggest and deepest oil fields in the world. The total explored reserves of Tengiz reach 3.2 billion tons, while recoverable reserves range from 890 million tons to 1.37 billion tons.
