Iran's exports through Golestan Province grow

BAKU, Azerbaijan, May 27

The exports through the customs of the Golestan Province (northeastern Iran) increased by 58 percent in terms of value and 485 percent in terms of volume during the first two months of the current Iranian year (from March 21 through May 21, 2021), compared to the same period last Iranian year, said Ebrahim Hosseini, Director General of Golestan Province Customs Office, Trend reports citing Iran Customs Administration (IRICA).

Hosseini noted that 93,000 tons of goods worth $22 million were exported through the customs of Golestan Province within two months.

The director-general said that the main exported goods were dairy products, pistachios, cement, polystyrene. These goods were mainly exported to Iraq, Turkmenistan, Kazakhstan, and Afghanistan.

“In addition, 443,000 tons of goods worth $2 million were imported through the customs of Golestan over the reporting period. The imports decreased by 7 percent in terms of value and 48 percent in terms of volume, compared to the same period last Iranian year,” he added.

According to Hosseini, the imported goods were mainly manufacturing equipment and fabric. These products were imported from Turkmenistan, China, and Turkey.

The director-general stressed the province's customs revenues amounted to 59 billion rials (about $1.4 million) in the two months.
