BAKU, Azerbaijan, June 6
By Fidan Babayeva - Trend:
The Azerbaijani-Russian pharmaceutical plant plans to produce Sputnik V vaccine against COVID-19, Ruslan Aliyev, trade representative of Azerbaijan to the Russian Federation, said, Trend reports referring to the Russian media.
“The certain products are being produced at the recently opened pharmaceutical plant in Azerbaijan,” Aliyev said. “The shareholders of the plant visited Azerbaijan several times in 2020.”
“As far as I know, it is planned to launch the production of a Russian vaccine in the territory of the plant,” the trade representative said. “We are constantly expanding our cooperation with the Russian Federation, as well as with partners from other countries.”
“The trade turnover of the two countries slightly decreased compared to 2019,” Aliyev said. “We look positively to the future. First, we expect to restore it. We are sure that we will increase it."
"It is hard for me to talk about the figures now,” Aliyev said. “However, I can say for sure that a few years before the COVID-19 pandemic, there was a growing trend. So, the export volume of non-oil products from Azerbaijan to Russia increased by 15-25 percent annually from 2017 through 2020."
“Everything that was laid down in the agreements between the presidents of the two countries, including the issues on the economic agenda, is being implemented,” the trade representative said.
