Iran boosts exports via Amirabad customs

BAKU, Azerbaijan, July 5

Iran’s exports through the Amirabad customs in the Mazandaran Province (northern Iran) increased by 55 percent in terms of value and 45 percent in terms of volume during the first three months of the current Iranian year (from March 21 through June 21, 2021), compared to the same period last Iranian year, Director General of the Amirabad Customs Office Amir Jamshidi said, Trend reports citing Islamic Republic of Iran Customs Administration (IRICA).

Jamshidi said that 190,000 tons of goods worth $8.34 million were exported through Iran's Amirabad customs over the reporting period.

“The main exported goods were cement, construction materials, salt, wood materials, chemicals, rubber products and etc. These goods were mainly exported to Kazakhstan, Russia, Turkmenistan and Azerbaijan,” he added.

The director general noted that moreover, 567,000 tons of goods worth $258 million were imported through the Amirabad customs in the three months. Compared to the same period last Iranian year, the imports increased by 46 percent in terms of value and 8 percent in terms of volume.

According to Jamshidi, the imported goods mainly barley, corn feed, various animal fats, chemicals and oilseeds and so on. These goods were imported from Russia, Kazakhstan, Germany, Turkey and others.

The director general emphasized that the revenues of Amirabad's customs for the first three months of the current Iranian year amounted to about 673 billion rials (about $16 million).
