Russia's share accounts for most of trade turnover with Turkmenistan

BAKU, Azerbaijan, August 10

Almost 74 percent of the trade turnover between Turkmenistan and Russia from January through May 2021 accounted for Russian exports to Turkmenistan, Federal State Statistics Service of Russia told Trend.

"The biggest volume of Russian exports to Turkmenistan during the reporting period accounted for ferrous metal products ($28.7 million): transport vehicles, except for railway and tram ($15.3 million), as well as fats and oils of animal or vegetable origin and products of their splitting; ready - made edible fats; waxes of animal or vegetable origin ($15 million)," said the message.

Vegetables and some edible root crops and tubers ($33.7 million), cotton ($8.7 million), plastics and products made from them ($8.7 million) accounted for the largest part of the total volume of imports of goods from Turkmenistan.

In general, the volume of Russian exports to Turkmenistan in the reporting period amounted to $179.5 million, while the import of goods from Turkmenistan to Russia amounted to $63.5 million.

The total trade turnover of Turkmenistan and Russia from January through May 2021 amounted to $243 million.

As earlier the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs told Trend, the positive dynamics in Russian-Turkmen trade continued in 2020 – the trade turnover increased by 39.6 percent, compared to 2019 and reached $970.2 million (excluding Turkmen gas supplies).
