A total of 170,000 meters of excavations were carried out in Iran over the last Iranian year (from March 20, 2020 through March 20, 2021), Trend reports citing Iranian Mines and Mining Industries Development and Renovation Organization (IMIDRO).

As a result of the excavations, Iran's reserves of iron ore, coal, bauxite, rare soil types, gold and copper have increased.

More than 2.71 trillion rials (about $64.5 million) have been spent on Iran's mining sector in the last Iranian year.

As of March 2018, IMIDRO has put on the agenda the implementation of exploration operations in an area of 650,000 square kilometers.
