Iran's dried fruit exports soar

Iran's dried fruit exports increased by 13 percent in terms of value and 11 percent in terms of volume during the first four months of the current Iranian year (from March 21 through July 22, 2021), compared to the same period last Iranian year, an official of the Trade Promotion Organization of Iran (TPOI) Mahmoud Bazari said, Trend reports referring to the organization’s website.

Bazari noted that Iran exported 157,000 tons of dried fruits worth $421 million over the 4 months.

The official added that Iran’s dried fruits were mainly exported to China, Germany, Iraq, India, UAE, Russia, Kyrgyzstan, Turkey, Kazakhstan and Pakistan.

“Iran exported 42,000 tons of pistachios worth $284 million in the four months. This is an increase of 13 percent in terms of value and 18 percent in terms of volume, compared to the same period last Iranian year,” he said.

According to Bazari, Iran also exported 61,000 tons of dates worth $53 million within the mentioned period. Compared to the same period last Iranian year, dates exports increased by 3 percent in terms of volume, while did not change much in terms of value.

The official emphasized that Iran exported 46,000 tons of raisins worth $60 million in the 4 months, which is an increase of 34 percent in terms of value and 35 percent in terms of volume, compared to the same period last Iranian year.

“Moreover, 2,000 tons of figs worth $7 million were exported from Iran during the reporting period. This is an increase of 138 percent in terms of value and 137 percent in terms of volume, compared to the same period last Iranian year,” he added.
