Iran sees increase in exports – IRICA

BAKU, Azerbaijan, Aug. 29

The exports of Iran increased by 63 percent in terms of value and 20 percent in terms of volume during the first five months of the current Iranian year (from March 21 through August 22, 2021), compared to the same period last Iranian year, Director General of Islamic Republic of Iran Customs Administration (IRICA), Mehdi Mirashrafi said, Trend reports citing the administration.

According to Mirashrafi, Iran exported 45.5 million tons of goods worth $17.6 billion within the mentioned period.

"So, Iran exported 12.3 million tons of goods worth $5.9 billion to China, 12 million tons worth $3.16 billion to Iraq and 5 million tons worth $1.9 billion to the United Arab Emirates," he added.

The director general noted Iran also exported 1.37 million tons worth $1.1 billion to Turkey and 2.16 million tons worth $885 million to Afghanistan.

Mirashrafi stressed that main exported goods were methanol, natural gas, polyethylene, unfinished iron products, iron ingots, gasoline, liquefied propane, iron shafts, urea and bitumen.

As reported, Iran's trade turnover for the first five months of the current Iranian year, amounted to 59.3 million tons worth about $34.3 billion, which is an increase of 38 percent in terms of value and 14 percent in terms of volume, compared to the same period last Iranian year.
