In general, 689 boats and ships are being built in the Hormozgan Province (southern Iran), Trend reports citing Iranian Ports and Maritime Organization (PMO).
According to the report, Iran issued licenses on the building of 1,409 ships and boats in the Hormozgan Province three years ago (from March 21, 2018).
So far, 720 boats and ships have been built and launched.
In addition, Iran has issued licenses on the manufacturing of 170 new ships and boats since the beginning of the current Iranian year (March 21, 2021).
"In total, 211 ships and boats were manufactured in Hormozgan Province over the last Iranian year (March 20, 2020 through March 20, 2021), which is an increase of 37.5 percent compared to the preceding Iranian year (March 21, 2019 through March 19, 2020)," the report said.
At present, there are 60 factories and workshops for boat and shipbuilding in Iran's Hormozgan Province. In addition to the southern provinces of Iran, these plants and workshops receive shipbuilding orders from countries around the Persian Gulf.
