President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev proposed to unfreeze Afghanistan's state assets located in foreign banks, Trend reports referring to Uzbek media.

“Given the humanitarian situation, we propose to consider the possibility of unfreezing Afghan accounts in foreign banks,” Mirziyoyev said, speaking at the anniversary summit of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) in Dushanbe.

The head of state suggested holding regular high-level meetings in the SCO-Afghanistan format in connection with the current situation in the country.

“To consolidate efforts and broadly discuss issues of the settlement in Afghanistan, we propose to regularly hold high-level meetings with the involvement of observer states and partners in the SCO-Afghanistan format. We are ready to organize the first such meeting in Tashkent,” he said.

The jubilee SCO summit began on September 17, in Dushanbe, under the chairmanship of the President of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon.
