Iran’s trade turnover with the member states of the Economic Cooperation Organization (ECO) amounted to 8 million tons worth about $5 billion during the first five months of the current Iranian year (March 21 through August 22, 2021), Spokesman for the Islamic Republic of Iran Customs Administration (IRICA) Rouhollah Latifi said, Trend reports citing the administration.
According to Latifi, this is an increase of 38 percent in terms of value and 8 percent in terms of volume, compared to the same period last Iranian year.
The official added that Iran exported 6.1 million tons of goods worth $3 billion to ECO member countries in the 5 months, which increased by 50 percent in terms of value and 22 percent in terms of volume compared to the same period last Iranian year.
"So, Iran exported goods worth $1.1 billion to Turkey, worth $855 million to Afghanistan, worth $421 million to Pakistan, worth $174 million to Uzbekistan, worth $161 million to Azerbaijan, worth $117 million to Turkmenistan, worth $63 million to Kazakhstan, worth $27 million to Kyrgyzstan and worth $9 million to Tajikistan,” he said.
In addition, Iran imported 1.9 million tons of goods worth $2 billion from the ECO member countries over the 5 months, which increased by 22 percent in terms of value, while decreased by 20 percent in terms of volume compared to the same period last Iranian year, Latifi noted.
The spokesman said that Iran imported goods worth $1.8 billion from Turkey, worth $90 million from Pakistan, worth $63 million from Uzbekistan, worth $28.6 million from Kazakhstan, worth $15.5 million from Turkmenistan, worth $14 million from Azerbaijan, worth $3.9 million from Afghanistan, worth $3 million from Tajikistan and worth $1.2 million from Kyrgyzstan.
The following ten countries are at present the member states of ECO: Afghanistan, Republic of Azerbaijan, Islamic Republic of Iran, Republic of Kazakhstan, Kyrgyz Republic, Islamic Republic of Pakistan, Republic of Tajikistan, Republic of Turkey, Turkmenistan, Republic of Uzbekistan.
