Iran’s NICICO boosts extraction and production

The copper soil extraction of the National Iranian Copper Industries Company (NICICO) increased by 9 percent, during the first six months of the current Iranian year (March 21 through September 22, 2021), compared to the same period last Iranian year, the Managing Director of the company, Ardashir Sad Mohammadi said, Trend reports referring to the company’s website.

Sad Mohammadi said that the company extracted 103 million tons of raw copper soil in 6 months. Meanwhile, in the same period last Iranian year, the figure stood at 94.7 million tons.

In addition, the NICICO produced 27.1 million tons of copper stone in six months, which amounted to 26.7 million tons in production plan, he added.

The director noted that a total of 606,000 tons of copper concentrate was produced from copper stone. This is an increase of 3 percent, compared to the production plan for 6 months.

According to Sad Mohammadi, the National Iranian Copper Industries Company produced 3,970 tons of copper-molybdenum in six months, which is 114 percent more than the production plan.

“At the same time, the company produced about 179,000 tons of copper anode within six months, which is an increase of 5 percent compared to the plan,” he said

The director also emphasized that over 6 months, the NICICO produced 143,000 tons of copper cathode. This is an increase of 5 percent compared to the planned.
