Iran unveils amount of money saved through domestic production

Iran has saved $2.2 billion by domestic production of new goods, during the first six months of the current Iranian year (March 21 through September 22, 2021), said Deputy Minister of Industry, Mine and Trade of Iran, Mehdi Sadeghi Niaraki, Trend reports citing IRNA.

He made the remark in an event dedicated to expanding domestic production in the automotive industry at ​​the Industrial Development and Renovation Organization of Iran (IDRO).

According to Niaraki, Iran is expected to save a total of $3.4 billion through domestic production within the current Iranian year (March 21, 2021 through March 20, 2022).

The deputy minister noted that Iran saved $3.5 billion at the expense of domestic production over the last Iranian year (March 20, 2020, through March 20, 2021).

"The domestic production program was launched in the country two years ago and is still ongoing," he said.

According to the Central Bank of Iran (CBİ), there was a 7.1 percent growth in Iran's industrial sector over the last Iranian year. Meanwhile, in the first three months of the current Iranian year (March 21 through June 21, 2021), the growth in the industrial sector was 6.1 percent. According to this, the growth in the industrial sector is expected to be 5.5 percent annually, the deputy minister said.

Niaraki emphasized that within 6 months, passenger car manufacturing in Iran increased by 3.4 percent, bus and minibus manufacturing by 10 percent, truck manufacturing by 66 percent, while the pickup manufacturing decreased by 13 percent, compared to the same period last Iranian year.
