The volume of gross livestock production in Kazakhstan from January through September 2021 amounted to 2.2 trillion tenge ($5.2 billion), which is 3.7 percent more than during the same period last year, Trend reports citing the Ministry of Agriculture of Kazakhstan
According to the ministry, the growth of livestock production in 9M2021 compared to the same period last year was noted in 10 regions of Kazakhstan.
It is reported that as of October 1, 2021, the number of cattle in all categories of farms increased by 4.7 percent compared to October 1, 2020.
Also, the volume of slaughter for this period in farms or sales for the slaughter of all types of livestock and poultry in slaughter weight amounted to 844,000 tons, which is 7.5 percent more compared to the corresponding period last year.
At the same time, the production of beef increased by 4.9 percent to 361,300 tons, lamb by 1.6 percent to 101,600 tons, horse meat by 6.2 percent to 97,600 tons, poultry meat by 21.3 percent to 208,500 tons. Pork production decreased in all regions, in general, by 3.6 percent to 56,800 tons.
In order to reduce import substitution for milk and provide milk processing enterprises with raw materials, three industrial dairy farms (Akmola, Kostanay, North Kazakh region) and 10 family dairy farms (Akmola, Almaty, Kostanay, Pavlodar, SKO, Shymkent) have been launched as of October 20, 2021.
Moreover, 15,498 head of pedigree cattle were imported to Kazakhstan as of October 1, 2021, of which 1,735 are head of dairy breeds, 3,611 - head of dairy and meat breeds, 10,152 - head of meat breeds.
