Iranian, Azerbaijani private sectors should work jointly - newly appointed Governor of East Azerbaijan

The private sector businessmen of both Iran and Azerbaijan should help to jointly develop a number of sectors in both countries,newly appointed Governor of East Azerbaijan Province Abedin Khorram said, Trend reports citing the Governor Office’s website.

He made the remark during an online meeting with Iranian Ambassador to Azerbaijan Seyyed Abbas Mousavi and Consul General of Iran in Nakhchivan, Ahmad Hosseini.

According to Khorram, creating new joint border markets where startup companies will allow to sell their products, hold joint exhibitions, promote investment opportunities between the two countries, visa facilitation for businessmen, and the resumption of Baku-Tabriz direct flights and other issues are in spotlight.

The governor also added that activation of Khudafarin border terminal is one of the necessary steps in this direction. In this regard, Iran has already developed its infrastructure and there are no problems to restore the operation of the border terminal," he said.

“The liberation of Azerbaijan’s Karabakh has created great opportunities for Iran. Thus, Iranian companies can also participate in the reconstruction work in the region,” he said.

Khorram noted that East Azerbaijan Province has great potential in manufacturing, industry, mining, food and agriculture sectors. It is necessary to facilitate the release of goods from customs, as well as to improve the roads and railways infrastructure connecting to Azerbaijan.
