The volume of raw and unrefined sulfur output amounted to 4.02 million tons in Kazakhstan from January through December 2021, Trend reports with reference to Kazakhstan’s Statistics Committee.
The output resulted in a 3.8-percent increase in comparison to the same period of 2020. This volume also includes sulfur extraction volumes.
In turn, the volume of sulfur output in December 2021 stood at 372,000 tons, which is 10 percent more than in December 2020.
The report also said that marble and limestone stone production amounted to 527,800 million tons over 2021, which compared with the same period last year, is a decrease of 21.8 percent.
In turn, marble and limestone production in December amounted to 49,900 cubic meters, which is 18.5 percent more compared to December 2020.
The production of granite, sandstone, and stone for monuments amounted to 5.7 million cubic meters from January through December 2021 and 566,200 cubic meters in December alone, which is 18.7 percent less and 1.5 percent more than during the same period of last year.
Production of chalk and non-calcined dolomite amounted to 2.01 million tons over 2021 and 173,100 tons in December 2021, which is 6.6 percent more and 1.8 percent less than during the same period of last year.
The committee said that asbestos production amounted to 250,000 tons over 2021 (an increase of 9.9 percent), while the production of salt, sodium chloride, and sea salt amounted to 1.1 million tons, which is 7.4 percent less than during the same period of last year.
