BAKU, Azerbaijan, April 4. Iran's exports of flowers and ornamental plants decreased by 36 percent in value and 28.8 percent in volume, during the first 10 months of last Iranian year (March 21, 2021 through January 20, 2022), compared to the same period last Iranian year, Director General of Greenhouses, Ornamental Plants and Edible Mushrooms Affairs Office under the Ministry of Agriculture Jihad Gholamreza Taghavi said,Trend reports citing the ministry.

According to Taghavi, Iran exported 6,950 tons of various flowers and ornamental plants worth about $13.9 million in 10 months.

The director general also added that the reasons for the decline in exports are the application of certain restrictions on export of flowers and ornamental plants in the country, as well as the decline in purchasing power worldwide.

“Despite the coronavirus pandemic in Iran over last Iranian year (March 21, 2021 through March 20, 2022), a total of 4.53 billion flowers and ornamental plants were grown in the country,” he said.
