BAKU, Azerbaijan, April 5. Iranian Government Trading Corporation (GTC) has purchased more than 550 tons of wheat from farmers under a guarantee in the Sistan and Baluchestan Province (south-eastern Iran) from the beginning of current wheat harvesting season in Iran (March 24) to April 5, 2022, Director General of the GTC’s branch in Sistan and Baluchestan Province Gholamali Ganjali said, Trend reports citing the corporation’s official website.
The director general stressed that in total, 12 centers have been established for the purchase of wheat in the province.
Ganjali added that the mentioned centers are operating in accordance with health protocols. Due to the large area of the Sistan and Baluchestan Province, the purchase of wheat in the province will continue for a long time.
Within the current Iranian year (March 21, 2022 through March 20, 2023), a total of 35,000 tons of wheat are expected to be purchased from farmers in the Sistan and Baluchestan Province.
In general, 9 million tons of wheat are expected to be purchased in Iran in the current Iranian year (from March 20, 2022, through March 20, 2023). Of this, about 5.5 million tons are expected to be purchased by the GTC.
The price of 1 kg of wheat was set up at 115,000 rials (about $2.74) for the current Iranian year.
A number of products, including wheat, tea, rice, and other products are purchased from farmers by GTC under a guarantee in Iran.
