BAKU, Azerbaijan, June 25. Completely selling all domestically manufactured cars in Iran is on the agenda, Iranian Deputy Minister of Industry, Mine and Trade Manouchehr Manteghi said at a press conference on June 25, Trend reports from the event.

According to Manteghi, a total of 213,000 cars were domestically manufactured in Iran over the last Iranian year (March 21, 2021 through March 20, 2022), while less than 170,000 of them were sold.

“As a result, about 340 trillion rials (about $ 8.09 billion) worth of cars in Iran's auto market haven't been sold last Iranian year,” he added.

The deputy minister noted that Iran's Ministry of Industry, Mine and Trade has begun to take steps to address the matter.

The deputy minister also pointed out that last year, car manufacturing at Iran's Iran Khodro and Saipa companies increased by 77 percent and 104 percent, respectively, compared to the annual plans.

Manteghi said that Iran plans to use the opportunities of startup companies in the automotive industry in the current Iranian year (March 21, 2022 through March 20, 2023).
