IRICA sees surge in value of Iran’s imports from SCO member states

BAKU, Azerbaijan, September 10. Iran's imports from the 11 member states of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) amounted to 4.03 million tons worth $7.97 billion, during the first five months of the current Iranian year (March 21 through August 22, 2022), the Spokesman for the Islamic Republic of Iran Customs Administration (IRICA) Rouhollah Latifi said, Trend reports citing the administration.

The spokesman stressed that Iran's imports from SCO member states for 5 months increased 68 percent in value compared to the same period last Iranian year.

“Over 5 months, Iran imported goods worth $5.52 billion from China, worth $1.16 billion from India, worth $715 million from Russia, worth $429 million from Pakistan, worth $78.4 million from Kazakhstan and worth $32.5 million from Uzbekistan,” Latifi added.

The customs official also said that Iran imported goods worth $26.2 million from Tajikistan, worth $10.4 million from Afghanistan, worth $3.9 million from Belarus, worth $2.7 million from Kyrgyzstan and worth $1.3 million from Mongolia in 5 months.

In total, Iran's foreign trade turnover with the mentioned 11 member states of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization for the first five months of the current Iranian year amounted to 21.4 million tons worth over $17 billion, which is an increase of 31 percent in value compared to the same period last Iranian year.
