BAKU, Azerbaijan, September 22. Iran's exports of mining minerals and related products increased by 73 percent in value and 5 percent in volume over the last Iranian year (March 21, 2021 through March 20, 2022), compared to the preceding Iranian year (March 20, 2020 through March 20, 2021), the Spokesman for the Islamic Republic of Iran Customs Administration (IRICA), Rouhollah Latifi said, Trend reports citing the administration.

The spokesman noted that Iran exported more than 45.4 million tons of mining minerals and related products worth about $12.3 billion over the last Iranian year.

Latifi also added that mining exports accounted for 27 percent in value and 37 percent in volume of Iran’s total non-oil exports for last year.

In total, Iran exported 122 million tons of non-oil products worth $48.6 billion in the last Iranian year.

“The extraction of the country’s mining minerals in the traditional manner, lack of new technologies, high transportation costs of mining minerals, raw export of these minerals leads to improper use of the country's mining resources. Whereas, it is possible to greatly support the country's economy by carrying out reforms in mining extraction, transportation, sales, and finding new markets,” he said.
