BAKU, Azerbaijan, November 22. Iran’s raw steel consumption increased by 15 percent, during the first seven months of the current Iranian year (March 21 through October 22, 2022), compared to the same period last Iranian year, Trend reports via the report of the Iranian Steel Producers Association (ISPA).

According to the report, Iran consumed about 13.5 million tons of raw steel in 7 months.

Meanwhile, in the same period last year, the figure stood at 11.7 million tons.

In 7 months, billet and bloom consumption in Iran amounted to nearly 8.27 million tons, which is an increase of 25 percent compared to the same period last Iranian year (6.6 million tons).

Moreover, the country’s slab consumption for the reporting period was 6.31 million tons. This is an increase of 24 percent compared to the same period last Iranian year (5.11 million tons).

Iran also consumed 11.3 million tons of steel products for seven months, which is an increase of 19 percent compared to the same period last Iranian year (9.57 million tons).

At the same time, about 20.4 million tons of sponge iron were consumed in Iran over 7 months, which is an increase of 22 percent compared to the same period last Iranian year.

Thus, about 16.7 million tons of sponge iron were consumed in the country in the same period of last Iranian year.
