BAKU, Azerbaijan, March 6. The value of Iran's imports from the African countries increased by 61 percent, during the first 11 months of the current Iranian year (March 21, 2022 through February 19, 2023), compared to the same period last Iranian year, Deputy Chairman of the Iranian-African Businessmen's Club Rouhollah Latifi said on social media, Trend reports.
According to Latifi, overall, Iran imported 85,500 tons of goods worth $83.5 million from the African countries in 11 months.
Meanwhile, Iran imported goods from 22 out of 54 countries of the African continent, he said.
“Within 11 months, Iran mainly imported goods worth $19.6 million from Tanzania, worth $17 million from Kenya, worth $13.7 million from the Republic of South Africa, worth $9 million from Ghana and worth $7.1 million from Seychelles,” the deputy chairman noted.
In total, Iran's non-oil trade turnover with African countries for the first 11 months amounted to 2.46 million tons worth approximately $1.24 million.
Generally, Iran imported 33.6 million tons of goods worth $53.7 billion within the first 11 months of the current Iranian year (March 21, 2022 through February 19, 2023).
This is an increase of 15.2 percent in value, while a decrease of 8.61 percent in volume compared to the same period last Iranian year.
